iWMS: Warehouse management by pallet, lot and location

Your ERP records how much stock you have. The iWMS records which pallet it sits on, its lot, its rack level and its expiry date. Picking follows FEFO and the minimum shelf life each customer requires.

Warehouse aisle of racked, stretch-wrapped pallets; an operator seen from behind scans a pallet as a reach truck crosses in the background.

Expired product and stock that does not match the ERP

  • The oldest product ends up at the back and surfaces once it can no longer be sold.
  • Picking depends on the operator's experience, with no guided path.
  • What the ERP shows differs from what is on the floor.
  • A shipment with insufficient shelf life is rejected in full at the customer's dock.
  • Without lot traceability, nobody can say what each customer received.

Inventory control by lot and expiry

  1. FEFO by expiry date

When an operator scans a pallet out of sequence, the system flags it and shows where the older pallets that should ship first are located.

  2. Shelf life by customer

If a customer on the trip requires a minimum shelf life, the rule applies to the whole trip at scan time and the system asks for a fresher pallet.

  3. Traceability by label

Each scan shows the unit's status, where it has been and where it is. The material master holds volume, weight, shelf life, quarantine and physical location.

  4. Guided picking

The routing engine sequences the path inside the warehouse. Operators follow step-by-step guidance, and the expert's judgment is recorded in the system.

FEFO by expiry date: the lot closest to expiry ships first

When you scan a pallet, the iWMS checks all stock of that SKU by lot and expiry date, and applies the customer's shelf-life rule to the whole trip.

Interface illustrationSample data
  1. 01Older lots, locatedIf older lots sit behind it or in another location, the scan shows how many and where.
  2. 02Shelf life per customerIf a customer on the trip requires at least 83% remaining shelf life, the rule applies to the whole trip and blocks any lot below it.
  3. 03Caught before dispatchAn out-of-rule lot is caught at scan time in the warehouse, before it reaches the customer.
