From 85% to 99% load, without adding a single truck

An Argentine bottler calculates pallets and route at the same time with Geodot. The space that used to travel empty becomes usable capacity.

Anonymized story: we name the industry, never the customer.

Context

An Argentine bottler delivers to its customers every day. It moves product in returnable glass and other packaging, and each one stacks differently. Glass goes on the bottom, and returnables come back and take up space.

Routes and loads were built every morning from the team's experience, plus a load margin so nothing was left behind. That gap was the price of not knowing in advance what fit in each truck.

The problem

It had 100 trucks under contract for a volume that called for 150, and 50 went out on a second run.

  • The route was decided first and the pallet built afterwards. If something didn't fit, the dock found out.
  • The mandatory load margin was left empty in every truck, every day.
  • Building the load depended on whoever knew how to do it by heart, against the clock.

How it was done

First the data, then the rules of the trade, then daily operations.

  1. 01

    Connect the ERP

Orders and the material master from the existing ERP: weight, volume and how each product stacks. The ERP remains the system of record.

  2. 02

    Calculate pallet and route together

Every time an order moves to another truck, palletizing is recalculated. The planner sees what fits before confirming.

  3. 03

    Turn know-how into rules

The load margin and returnables become system rules. The glass rule spreads glass customers across trucks to free up space without breaking margins.

  4. 04

    Run it every day

The plan leaves with the load solved. The knowledge of whoever built loads by heart is kept in the system.

What's next

The same logic applies to operations with returnables, mixed packaging or load constraints. The first step is measuring how much leaves empty today, with your orders.

In the demo we calculate, with your orders, how much capacity travels unused today.
